In the 1900s, electricity was represented as a fairy, a magical force bringing power and progress to humans.
But these days, we’re more likely to draw a light bulb in our living room or the electricity meter in our home. Electricity is now everywhere, part of our everyday lives. So much so that we forget how precious it is. And that to do without oil, gas and coal, the challenges of transition are enormous.
In Switzerland, 60% of energy consumption is fossil fuel-based. If we are to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050, we will need to increase the number of clean energy infrastructures.
So how do we go about it? In this episode of the “2040 j’y vais!” podcast, Chantal Peyer takes you on a tour of various citizen energy initiatives that are contributing to this energy transition.
You’ll hear:
- Karine Roch, President of the Association pour l’Energie Citoyenne, who will tell us about a municipal project above Morges.
- Claude-Alain Roulet, Michel Dénéréaz and Marcel Schuppli, three residents of the La Mottaz neighbourhood in Apples, have launched a project to create a citizen’s electric community.
- And Marc Müller, an engineer in the field of Transition, who will broaden our analysis of the challenges of the energy transition and take us on a journey to 2040.
