In the current international context, marked by polarization and the United States’ slide towards autocracy, it is necessary to question the vitality of our democracies.

How can we maintain dialogue and respect in public debate? How can we ensure that different political parties remain at the service of the general interest and the search for solutions? In short, how can we build a society together with our differences, rather than accentuating the gulfs that separate us?

In this episode of the Podcast, 2040 j’y vais! I invite you to delve into the workings of Swiss democracy, to imagine how we can continue to govern together, despite our disagreements.

To this end, I’d like to introduce you to two of our speakers:

  • Pascal Müller-Scheiwiller, co-founder of “Future Expedition”, a non-partisan association which seeks to renew political dialogue in Berne through an original and innovative process.
  • Pascal Sciarini, Professor of Political Science, specializing in Swiss politics, and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Geneva. And author of the book “Swiss Politics: Institutions, Actors, Processes”.

Interview: Chantal Peyer
Production: Aline Blanchard
