Construction 2050

What futures are sustainable and desirable in the construction sector? Le Hub des possibles and the CCDC, with the support of the canton of Vaud, are launching a series of foresight-action training courses to explore the future of construction.

Do you work in the construction industry and feel the need to step back and think about the challenges facing your company? Are increasingly rapid changes (customs duties, raw material prices, global warming, legislation, labor shortages, etc.) putting you in a situation of instability, discomfort and even economic fragility?

This series of foresight-action training courses offers you a privileged space to understand current and future developments, clarify your priorities and act with greater lucidity and impact.

What?

Le Hub des Possibles has teamed up with the Centre de compétence pour la durabilité dans la construction (CCDC) to offer training courses to help you think about the sustainable future of construction, on three themes chosen in discussion with contractors from the sector:

  • Skills & professions of the future (attractiveness, training, energy transition and sustainability, new hybrid roles) – 9.10.2026 and 6.11.2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Materials of the future (resources, circularity, new business models) – 29.01.2027 and 26.02.2027 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm
  • Technologies & AI (productivity, collaboration, new requirements, responsible adoption) – 30.04.2027 and 28.05.2027 from 8:30am to 12:30pm

These themes are decisive for the competitiveness, sustainability and resilience of SMEs in the construction industry: they determine their ability to produce, recruit, secure supplies, direct activities and arbitrate investments in a context of uncertainty.

For whom?

This training course has been designed for entrepreneurs, general managers, operations managers and senior executives (HR, operations, technical, innovation, finance) from SMEs in the construction and related trades.

Participation in pairs is recommended (management + key executive) to enrich the analysis and speed up translation into decisions and implementation.

What are you leaving with?
The aim of this training cycle is to enable :

  • A clear strategic view of the economic, climatic and social future
  • A shared understanding of future risks and opportunities for your SME,
  • The formulation of 1-2 visions of a desirable future for the company,
  • Identification of 3-5 priority action areas over the next 3 years.

How?

Each theme is addressed in 2 half-day workshops (4h00), spaced out over a month to allow time to mature, share and refine the analysis internally, and come back with questions.

Workshop 1 – Mapping futures (4h00)
You explore different scenarios of the future and leave with an understanding :

  • new emerging realities
  • trades, skills, materials or technologies that will become obsolete
  • key technical, human and leadership skills for the future
  • strategic tensions to be resolved (costs, regulations, HR, supply chains, productivity).

Workshop 2 – Strategic landing (4h00)

Based on what you have learned during the first half-day, you will leave with :

  • elements of a desirable future for your company, and an understanding of the gap between the current situation and the desired trajectory,
  • three to five strategic action levers to prepare the company and its teams for the realities of tomorrow (investments, HR/training, partnerships, innovations).
  • A leadership posture that enables you to tackle uncertainty and embrace change with greater joy and serenity.

Price

Slow down for a better start

Faced with the challenges of climate change, growing crises, inequality and poverty, it's becoming difficult to project oneself into the future and remain serene. Le Hub des possibles and L'archipel invite you to take a break, to take your foot off the gas - for the duration of a workshop - to let your concerns settle and reconnect with what's essential: the joy of living.
