Have you ever found a raclette oven in your kitchen that you’d forgotten existed? And when you plug it in, you realize that it doesn’t work anymore?

Many of us have made this observation: we have too many objects. And their lifespan is getting shorter and shorter. In fact, warranties only last for two years, and after that, our appliances usually end up in landfill sites, because they can’t be repaired.

So is it inevitable? No! In the ninth episode of the “2040 I’m going” podcast, we explore alternatives to this model.

For this, I invite you to meet:
🔸 Nikola Sanz, from the l’Ecrou workshop. A community project launched by young enthusiasts who dismantle and repair just about everything in existence, with the aim of contributing to a more sustainable world.
🔸 Adèle Thorens, lecturer at HEIG-VD and former member of the Council of States, who has been involved in the fight against the obsolescence of our objects for over fifteen years.

Finally, we’ll take a trip to the year 2040 to imagine a future in which remanufacturing has become the norm, and in which the career of repairer has become more highly prized than that of manager. A podcast proposed by Chantal Peyer.

Boris Siegenthaler, founder of Infomaniak, and Stépahne Lecorney, associate professor at HEIG-VD, take us on a (more) responsible digital journey.
